Fantastique is a beautiful deck of playing cards inspired by the apparatus of magic‘s golden age and the automatons of Robert-Houdin. It also happens to hold a secret of its own. When the cards are riffled through like a flip book, the illustrations come to life, animating two of magic's most famous illusions. An orange tree blossoms from an acrobats top hat while a women, having been sawed in half, is pulled apart. Designed by Sveta Dorosheva, each illustration was meticulously altered to achieve the spectacular animation. Accompanied by two unique Jokers and The Turk, a mechanical chess player from the 18th century whom many believed possessed artificial intelligence, represented on the Ace of Spades. From 1913-1922, Frank Lloyd Wright designed and built the Imperial Hotel in Tokyo, Japan. For decades this landmark served as an architectural icon for the city, during which time it survived several devastating earthquakes until it was demolished in 1968. Fortunately, the main entrance and hotel lobby were preserved and reconstructed in 1968 at the Museum Meiji-mura, an open-air architectural museum and theme park near Nagoya in Aichi prefecture, Japan. In celebration of the centennial anniversary of the Imperial Hotel, the Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation has partnered with Art of Play to design a commemorative pack of playing cards based on Wright's original drawings. Meticulously Illustrated by Ethan Kowaleski in close collaboration with Brad Fulton and Dan & Dave Buck.

This 2016 design was reissued exclusively for the 2022 Art of Play Mystery Decks. In place of the all green back design this version features a multitude of colors. To differentiate: the new tuck appears to be lighter in color and the ad copy on the bottom is completely different from the original.
