BRuT Gilded Poker - Uusi was the first design studio to create hand-gilded decks for the modern, custom playing card market two years ago and to our knowledge, we are currently the only company who has produced and sold them to date.

A really sharp fully custom deck with a well designed back that lends itself well to the theme and keeps a two way back design dynamic. The deck also features slightly stylized pips, custom Ace of Spades and only one Joker. The deck also comes with two "gaff" cards and a double backer for some nice effects. Note the two images of the King of Hearts below...very subtle. Built into this very special deck are the following unique features: Each custom designed court card depicts a different hour of the day and these have been printed in 'Chased' order allowing for some superb effects that are unique only to this deck. It's the first deck ever printed having both Gold and Silver hot stamped foil on the back of the cards.

"IMPERIAL" edition is a strictly limited production: Only 555 decks produced.

THE TUCK:

For such a special edition, Lotrek wanted a special tuck case. He started searching and experimenting with various materials until he decided on velvet: The most obvious and appropriate option, came last as it often happens...

The tuck box is made of velvet and has embossing and gold foil accents.

THE DECK:

The Back design - the gem of the deck- with Gold and Silver hot stamped foil on a purple background, is inspired by Byzantine mosaics. It features the two-headed eagle, the Imperial symbol.

The deck features gold metallic ink on the faces, gold and silver metallic on the back and an intricate tuck case that was amazingly stamped on 2-sided color "metallic" stock, pushing the limits of detailed foiling. 600 numbered decks will become available out of the 700 produced and ICONS “SACRED” will never be reprinted. As it was technically very demanding, and before I go to the press for IMPERIAL edition's final print, I decided to “sacrifice” this deck and use it in order to test my new printer’s efficiency and also to experiment with various production aspects from cutting methods and metallic inks’ behavior to playing card finish.  I used my own varnishing formula which has a feel that I like but appears a bit sensitive to rubbing and should be handled with care. That said, crafted with much love, devotion -and some risk-, ICONS SACRED is an experimental deck, more an art object than a deck for playing games.  But who can actually play games with the Sacred? That would be a sacrilege…

Madame LaVeau LTD700 the Soothsayer, released as part of Stockholm's 2023 Patron Awards.

I had in mind a new odd fellow and finally I found some inspiration and started to sketch some odd court cards based on a concept.

The way I am distributing characteristics of the characters is displayed in the black table. Long story short: I picked the number of court cards (12) and I am matching them with the 12 houses of the zodiac, the 12 months, and 12 major arcana associated to that month (like my Keymaster Tarot Calendar). Suits are associated to seasons, and this will affect the color palette difference between red and black cards.

Who is Madame Laveau? find Marie Laveau on wikipedia. I did not take everything from the original character, just the last name and the mystic aspect.

Usually he orders the German Black Core paper with butter finish (Quartermaster, 17th kingdom, and others).
