For six months, we’ve been keeping one secret closely guarded. In collaboration with USPC, we began testing an experimental new process, for the first time applying gold foil DIRECTLY on the back of playing cards.

The cards are then processed with Bicycle’s most durable finish - resulting in a card that spreads, fans, shuffles, and tears just like a normal playing card. Based on research at USPC, they’re 400% more durable and 30% more flexible than any other foil application. Scratch them, twist them, tear them, bend them - the foil doesn’t come off.

In 2011, we released the original Monarchs. They quickly became our best-selling deck, and they ushered in a new standard for luxury playing cards. Soon after, we dressed them in red. Monarchs are back in a new print edition, with a much more vivid, vibrant red box.

Red Monarchs are Made in the USA on FSC-certified paper derived from sustainable forests. Printed on Q1 quality stock with our signature Premium 909 Finish.

We spent time refining the world’s finest deck. It turned out better than we could ever imagine. We treated the back design with a vibrant, dramatic shade of red. For the tuck case, we worked alongside our print team to take an existing soft-touch paper and then darkened the tone while maintaining the vibrance of the red color.

In 2011, we released the original Monarchs, featuring gold foil, navy blue paper, and elegant, sleek, minimalistic design. A triumph of form and function, the designed was featured on Luxist, The Die Line, Hollywood motion pictures, and high fashion publications.

Today, we present a new, unlimited edition: Silver Monarchs. Dressed in white, and printed on FSC-certified paper with embossed, silver foil. The Silver Monarchs are fit for a king and as striking as ever.

The most limited deck ever released by Theory11, with less than 1 gross being sold. This deck is not an officially released print run but rather the result of a mistake in printing. During the implementation of metallic gold to the deck the execution of printing was not up to standard and the full run was trashed - with the exception of a gross. This deck should be considered an "error" deck rather than a full public release deck. The Second Edition of Artifice added a functional border on the back to improve upon the deceptiveness of sleights requiring the alignment of cards, such as a Push Off Double or Elmsley count.  However, the purple from the 2nd edition does not have the white border like the v2 blue and emerald, but instead a black border with white face which limits the benefits of the second edition.
