I have only started collecting playing card decks recently. I didn't really know it was a thing (Australia doesn't have a USPCC). I had bought a couple of marked decks in 2018 for their ingenuity and then a gaff deck in 2022 caught my eye and buying the accompanying deck took me down the rabbit hole. It is wonderful to find the hobby that was meant for you all along. I had collected single cards in elementary school ('Swap cards' were a thing in Australia in the 60's) and then what you would call trading cards (bubblegum and cereal) in high school. I was a card player all my life but collected other things. My family lost 'everything' except what was important/each other, in the 2009 Black Saturday fires and for a while I denied my collector urges. First of all I had to find some of my old books - to reconnect to my roots I think but now it is exclusively cards. Hopefully in a controlled way as we retired at 60 to enjoy life (on a budget)
