The Eye of the Ocean - Solis Gilded

Stockholm17 // 2022

The Solis deck features an Ocean Blue colour with gold hot foil on the tuck and gold foil on the backs of the cards. During the Kickstarter campaign, there was option to upgrade the Solis deck to a blue gilding to match the colour of the deck

Includes: custom illustrated court cards, custom aces as islands, custom number cards, blue gilding, map portion on the background of all cards (for the puzzle)

The cards that play the role of jokers are illustrations related to the novel. There is an extra card for Solis and Lunæ which printed with letterpress on cotton paper; this is necessary for the puzzle.

Sovereign is a homage to some of the most well-known Kings and Queens of the greatest European empires of all times. Sovereign reimagines the courts of a standard deck with illustrations that are gorgeous and colorful, with intricate details.

Sovereign, a person who has supreme power or authority...

This campaign is my attempt to represent Sovereign, which is defined as:

Having supreme rank, power, or authority - supreme; preeminent; indisputable - greatest in degree; utmost or extreme - being above all others in character, importance, excellence.

Each one of the historical kings and queens depicted in this deck are a shadow of what true sovereignty is meant to be. Each one was flawed like us all, but were seen as divinely anointed. The kings and queens were honored as divinity its self. Birth right and elevation, great responsibility and power.

    • Seafarers edition is manufactured with a matte blue, raw texture material and embossed brass foil that surrounds the tuck case. This edition has a unique color scheme for the face card designs that matches the hue of the tuck case and card backs.

    Completely original, yet familiar art style! The goal for the SAGA series was to design classic poker playing cards with an iconic nordic twist inspired by the viking era of Scandinavia. An elegant balance between playable functionality and thematic novelty. Something that is easily recognisable by players but unique at the same time. The tuck material has a raw texture for an authentic and luxury feel that compliments their respective delicate and antique metals foils well.

This deck depicts the complete legendary Roman legionary armor, as well as the sparse armor, inspired by Legionaries but pared down for individual combat.

    Created by Jody Eklund, Legionary captures the legend of the Roman citizen, once conscripted into a Roman Legion, and now turned Gladiator. Upon the face cards you will find fierce and fearless faces of men and women who risked their own harm for the pleasure and entertainment of the Colosseum crowds. “Fortune favors the brave,” and these gladiators need no lesson in courage!

    After having created several modern original decks of playing cards I have recently been inspired from playing cards from the past. And in this campaign I will present you 2 of my favorites; the Vanity and Faro. Both of these deck were originally produced in the late 19th century. The Vanity deck is based off of the famous "Vanity Fair" transformation deck copyrighted in 1895. The Faro deck is based off of the Russel & Morgan Squared Faro first printed in 1887. The Faro deck was supplied to casinos for the game of faro and is more of a "workers" deck while the Vanity deck would be considered more of a "novelty" deck.     Russian Folk Art Limited Edition

    Natalia Silva // 2017

    This deck was inspired by traditional Russian wood painting style and national ornament - Khokhloma. Khokhloma known for it's vivid flower patterns, red and gold colors over a black background. It first appeared in the second half of the 17th century in what is today known as the Koverninsky District of the Nizhny Novgorod Oblast. The handicraft was named Khokhloma after a trade settlement in the same oblast, where craftsmen had been known for making and selling their handmade goods between the 18th and early 20th centuries. The main colors used in Khokhloma painting – gold, black and red. Sometimes these colors are complemented with green, brown, orange, yellow. Motifs used in painting are mainly natural: it is grass, flowers, berries and birds.
