Since the dawn of time, man has felt drawn to the sea and its infinite mysteries. We try to understand it in many ways: exploring, inventing stories, immersing ourselves in its crystal waters or simply through dreaming. To celebrate this fascination with the ocean Jocu has created ONDA, a deck of cards depicting a fantastical marine mythology. Twelve colourful characters that incorporate the necessary characteristics to live and survive the azure depths, where life assumes surprising forms and colours and humans are permitted to see only a small part. ONDA, the fourth project by Jocu Playing Cards, is a colourful, visual exploration of this world and its both real and imagined creatures.

With our third deck we wanted to take a different approach in art style to keep everyone guessing. We decided to bring the theme back to our foundation: Pharmacy. Since we were going back to our roots, we decided that the best way to do so would be to pay homage to the old school small town pharmacies on Main Street. We wanted to bring you back to a time where artwork was ornate and quality items came packaged inside metal tins. Instead of using the standard Bicycle or Arrco courts, we thought that we would update them while still giving them a vintage feel. We teamed up with Russ Gray again (the illustrator from our first deck: Meadowlark Playing Cards) and challenged him to create a classic deck inspired by Vintage Pharmacy. This fully custom deck is inspired by the Ukrainian pilot who’s assumed to be a myth. He quickly became a symbol of resistance after the story of his bravery emerged during Moscow’s “military operation” in Ukraine. The deck sports the color of the Ukrainian in yellow and blue with each edition available in 2 different tuck cases- Wierd and Classic. (The Holographic decks only comes in the wierd edition.)
