Time is the most precious gift. It lets us imagine, and drives us to create. The Memento Mori Blue is a celebration of life, a sign of what inspires us, and a constant reminder that our time here is fleeting. It is a symbol of our eternal defiance against our own impermanence. It is a design reminding us to create, to imagine, and to live. The low-poly design is simple and post-modern. Yet, beneath the clean veneer of elementary shapes, lies a complex shading arrangement meant to breathe life and dimensionality into an otherwise flat image. The prevailing blue hue throughout each custom card embodies man's ubiquitous reflection on mortality. This marvelous deck allows you to make a statement. Many historians believe that playing cards represented a deeper, esoteric meaning, that each suit was one of the four seasons. Each card within a suit was one of the thirteen phases of the moon. The Fifty-two cards in a deck would represent fifty-two weeks of the year and together, this would represent just one year of your life.

Playing cards are the primary building blocks and tools with which we create our magic. Just as an architect must carefully plan and build his structures; magicians must take equal care in structuring their effects and presentations. Architect playing cards are the perfect tribute to an art & craft that shares so much with magic.

Designed by Jared Hansen and printed by the Expert Playing Card Company, the Architect deck is truly a sight to behold. The stunning tuck box is crafted from a heavy-duty deep blue matte paper that's adorned on all sides with intricately applied silver foil.

The cards themselves have the look of a blueprint, featuring a beautiful blue & white back design with fine line work. The faces are Expert Standard with a custom DaVinci-inspired Ace of Spades and identical drawing compass Jokers. The handling is superb thanks to Damask finish, which has a medium thickness and snap with an exquisite embossing pattern and texture.

The cards are smooth cut, fully customized with deep detail. Each fresh look uncovers a new secret. Aurelians are so intricate that we had to employ specialists to experiment with different weights of foil and ink to create this modern artifact. Forging gold coins to donate to his troops, guaranteeing their loyalty. We've captured that narrative with a strong border topped with his signature coin, drawing inwards to a medallion-inspired centre piece that looks hypnotic in your hands. 271 AD: Rags to Riches Emperor Aurelian, born to humble beginnings, understood the people's wants. Upon rising to power he cancelled the people's private debts to the treasury. Each courtier card has been draped in gold and fully re-worked to stand proudly with the powerful design. The faces have also been completely re-sculpted to create a timeless pip arrangement, whilst still remaining recognizable for magic. 272 AD: Paid in Blood Exquisite detail meets historical significance. Aurelian's custom ace is a symbol for the "Soldier-Emperor". His reign, though short, was marked by bloody and glorious conquest. Gold ink swords, whips and throwing spears drape themselves over the stunning spade. It's the most important card in a deck and it's the only one with golden pips. 273 AD: Power and Glory Aurelian was a celebrated military leader, enjoying amongst his titles the moniker "Restitutor Orbis; Restorer of the World, claiming back much of the previously lost Roman Empire. The Jokers are a homage to the Tally-Ho cowboys we've all come to love. These soldiers stand resolute ready to defend an empire...Or to overthrow one.

Sealed with a red tax-stamp, vintage sticker seal marked with the exact month and year of print. Containing largely standard face cards, the emphasis is on the premium foil tuck, card back artwork and stock quality that also was environmentally conscious.
