Two sets (1 black, 1 green) of larger sized (slightly bigger than poker size) playing card in a tin case made by Hudson-Scott & Sons, Carlisle, England.

Created by Travis Nichols, this 160 card deck contains the standard suits Diamonds, Clubs, Hearts and Spades, but adds Knives, Acorns, Clouds and Planets.  In addition, it includes A-K, plus 0, 11 and Beasts for a total of 16 cards in each suit.  Plus 4 jokers.

Originally offered by Spicy Pickle Creative as a KickStarter project in June 2014, with a failed relaunch shortly after, the rights and artwork were purchased by Albino Dragon.  After 2 years of deliberation and almost being abandoned, it was finally successful in June 2016 with 272 backers who pledged $7,857.  

When they first appeared in 2012 for the exclusive enjoyment of members of the prestigious Folio Society, the design world fell in love. Odd Bods were playful, charming, elegant, and above all else, a joy for the eyes.

Today they are so much more.

We’re pleased to offer the new Odd Bods featuring an all-new back design and gold-foil embossed box. Each playing card, hand illustrated by Jonathan Burton, is nothing short of stunning. Every image proves its own quirk and oddity, but is never ostentatious-- Odd Bods are the epitome of refined indulgence.

The original designs of the deck are all inspired by folk designs from Russian heritage and culture. Traditional folk art has always played an intrinsic part of domestic culture across Russia and represents traditions and practices of the citizens.

Russia has a very long, rich and visual cultural past, from its colorful folk costumes to its ornate religious symbols.

Russian Folk Art "Special Edition" combines flowers, leaves, people, musical instruments and geometric shapes with stylized depictions of birds and animals, as well as mythological creatures.

Commonly known as "1864 Restoration - Saladee's Patent Deck" from the KickStarter project of that name, or "Saladee's Patent Playing Cards Restoration" from the bottom of the tuck, the decks themselves have a title of "Hart's Linen Eagle".  There were 4 unique decks available in the related KickStarter project: Standard, Limited, Original Release and Weathered.  Plus a display deck for the Weathered deck for a total of 5 tucks and P52 entries.

For over 500 years people used playing cards without indices in the corners. Then on February 9, 1864 Cyrus W. Saladee was issued a United States Patent, No. 41,587 to print numbers, suit symbols, letters, and miniature playing cards in the corner of a playing card. The patent was purchased by Samuel Hart and he put Saladee's name on the deck and Ace of Spades.  The rare piece of history is known as the Saladee's Patent Deck. Others eventually started to print indices, as we see in the Squeezers and Triplicates which began production 12 years later in 1876.

A great number of these were produced during the WWII era with different dates listed on the back of the tuck. These decks were given to soldiers in the field to pass the time and ease the mind.  

A pinochle deck consists of two copies of each of the 9, 10, jack, queen, king, and ace cards of all four suits, for 48 cards per deck. Aces are always considered high. Pinochle follows a nonstandard card ordering. The complete ordering from highest to lowest is A, 10, K, Q, J, 9. 

Western Carloading Co., Inc. was registered in September 18, 1944.  Based on this the assumption is this 25th Anniversary deck is from 1969.

While most backers of this KickStarter project did not receive their decks until August 2016 (19 months late - due to creator and alleged fulfilment company issues), the deck was produced in July 2015

This deck is all about a classic sideshow experience. The inspiration for this deck comes from the design on boxes of premium cigars, beautiful, colorful, intricate artwork that goes perfectly with the downright dapperness of smoking a cigar. A cigar band with embossed, gold foil accents wraps around the tuck case. The court cards are inspired by some of the older European designs of playing cards to add to the premium look and feel. This is a Limited Edition deck that is available exclusively to Club 808 Members. The seal on the top of the tuck is a Club 808 seal showing the production quantity of 5,000 decks. Why don't more people know about the 'War of Currents'? THE IDEA We have always thought the best way to learn something is through entertainment. From there, it evolved into playing cards. We thought everyone from all walks of life and passions can enjoy a good card game... why not put a history lesson in a deck of cards? Well, that's what we did! THE LOOK Our goal was to design a deck of cards that provided a feel of nostalgia, similar to the cards from the late 1800's/Early 1900's. We wanted to tell the story of the 'War of Currents' with our concepts.
