ABOUT THIS DECK
Betrayers Veritas is the last, crazy deck of the Betrayers series, and represents the pure essence of betrayal. Suits are inverted: Hearts and Diamonds are Blue, and Spades and Clubs are red. The courts of Betrayers Veritas are completely different than Lucis, Tenebra and Invictus. And are two-faced! Also, every court tells a story.
Italian graphic designer Giovanni Meroni has an instantly recognizable style. He puts an incredible amount of thought, effort and backstory into each Thirdway Industries project, and has created some very popular decks. He does not just slap together a Bicycle variation with standard courts and pips. On the other hand, his queens are always double-D goddesses regardless of their mythological origins, which may get tiresome for some, although it’s amusing to see how he sometimes flirts with anatomical accuracy without actually depicting nudity. The Betrayers Veritas deck is fun and well-designed while also being extremely annoying, with inverted suit colors. Meroni’s decks aren’t everyone’s cup of tea, but there’s no denying his skill at creating deeply layered and expertly crafted stories in his projects.
