Forging gold coins to donate to his troops, guaranteeing their loyalty. We've captured that narrative with a strong border topped with his signature coin, drawing inwards to a medallion-inspired centre piece that looks hypnotic in your hands. 271 AD: Rags to Riches Emperor Aurelian, born to humble beginnings, understood the people's wants. Upon rising to power he cancelled the people's private debts to the treasury. Each courtier card has been draped in gold and fully re-worked to stand proudly with the powerful design. The faces have also been completely re-sculpted to create a timeless pip arrangement, whilst still remaining recognizable for magic. 272 AD: Paid in Blood Exquisite detail meets historical significance. Aurelian's custom ace is a symbol for the "Soldier-Emperor". His reign, though short, was marked by bloody and glorious conquest. Gold ink swords, whips and throwing spears drape themselves over the stunning spade. It's the most important card in a deck and it's the only one with golden pips. 273 AD: Power and Glory Aurelian was a celebrated military leader, enjoying amongst his titles the moniker "Restitutor Orbis; Restorer of the World, claiming back much of the previously lost Roman Empire. The Jokers are a homage to the Tally-Ho cowboys we've all come to love. These soldiers stand resolute ready to defend an empire...Or to overthrow one.

Grotesk Macabre is the evolution of "Grotesque", which was the UC2014 annual deck. Taking this deck as a starting point, I tried to create my own vision of the Underworld. I find fascinating how artists throughout the centuries have imagined the world of the dead and how they dealt with the greatest fear of mankind. The Legend Of Sleepy Hollow Playing Cards were conceived by playing card designer Derek McKee (Les Méliès and Cherry’s) and illustrated in France by J.C. Desevre. This intricate and detailed deck of playing cards depicts artwork and characters from the famous Sleepy Hollow legend including Ichabod Crane & the Headless Horseman. 

From James Coffee Co. . . . "James Coffee Co. is small batch coffee roaster specializing in producing handcrafted artisan roasted coffee beans. Located inside a large mixed-use warehouse that features communal tables offering games while you enjoy a cup of coffee. As frequent visitors of James Coffee it was only a matter of time before the idea of creating a custom deck came up. Nearly two years later that idea is finally a physical product. We're not sure what took us so long however one thing is for certain, the end result is pure gold. Printed in collaboration with the U.S. Playing Card Co. to our trademark specifications, the design was inspired by vintage casino-style playing cards and features two owl jokers along with a "brewing guide" card. The handsome tuck box was printed by Clove St. Press on a vintage Heidelberg by a highly skilled artisan."

In conjunction with Season 3 of the International Cardistry Open (ICO) this year, Expert Playing Card Co. and Kardify are releasing a commemorative ICO deck to celebrate the tournament’s third year of existence. This bold and eye-catching deck has been meticulously designed by artist Brendan Hong, who is well known for the gorgeous Hive and Dynasty Playing Cards.

This fresh deck can actually be used all year long to give someone a fright. Designed around one of the world's most pervasive phobias, the Spider Web deck from designer Ben Kolozsi brings subtlety to your scare. The custom tuck and back design feature an intricate web, while the Joker has a realistic depiction of a Spider. Special gaffed cards allow you to make the spider vanish from one card and reappear on another! The deck also features a custom Ace of Spades and custom-colored court cards. Printed by the USPCC on Bicycle stock with Premium finish, this is our most limited deck to date, with only 1,000 made.

Halloween is every magician's favorite holiday. To celebrate, we've teamed up with Natalia Silva, the talented artist behind the Christmas deck and Russian Folk Art deck. She has put her cute & creative spin on the holiday be creating the ENTIRE deck from the ground up. Each card face has a unique piece of Halloween-themed art ranging from bats to skeletons to candy corn. The diptych Jokers combine together to form one beautiful piece of art, while the back design perfectly captures the mood of the season. These Limited Edition decks were released as part of the Whispering Imps® Wooden Collectors Set. Each limited edition set contains every deck ever produced by Whispering Imps Productions, a culmination of over 2 years of designing and manufacturing custom playing cards.

In 2013, I successfully Kickstarted the Whispering Imps®, a deck of cards for magicians that was inspired by Harry Kellar’s famous portrait poster from 1894. After a very successful campaign, 5 different versions of the original design and thousands of shipped decks, it was time for a brand new deck of Whispering Imps®. In January 2014, I partnered again with illustrator Mark Stutzman, and we began designing the second deck in the Whispering Imps® series: The Gamesters.

Designed for card players, the Gamesters are two new decks inspired by classic Las Vegas casinos including Jerry’s Nugget, the Golden Nugget, and The Wynn. The clean, simplistic back design allows players to be focused on what’s most important – the game.

Additionally, I wanted to make it easier for both left and right handed card players to peek at their hand while at the same reducing the amount of card exposed to prying eyes, so the pips are placed just 2.5mm from the edge in all four corners.  The top right and bottom left indices are rotated 90°, allowing players another unique opportunity to quickly peek at their hand when cards are in a horizontal position.  

Lastly, it was important to set this deck apart from the original while maintaining elegance. The original Whispering Imps® sported a very intricate back design and were housed within a very simple, iconic tuck box. The Gamesters incorporate just the opposite - a very simple and iconic back design and an intricate, elaborate tuck box.
